Environmentally improved – what does it mean?

The Duni ecoecho™ line is about offering products that have been developed with the environment in mind and that have been chosen for having one or more environmentally improved characteristics. These can be focused on different environmental aspects and parts of the product’s life-cycle, which we describe here.

Resource Efficiency Raw-materials that show clear resource efficiency compared to standard alternatives. Includes materials from recycled material and by-products that would otherwise have been regarded as waste, as well as low-processed filler material such as Chalk. Renewable Raw-materials that are from the biosphere: wood or plant material. Renewable materials are part of the biomass CO2 cycle and do not contribute to global warming as opposed to fossil based carbon materials such as mineral oil. Compostable Materials that have been shown to biodegrade in industrial composting facilities under the standard EN 13432. To take full advantage of this characteristic the end-products need to be sorted with other bio-waste (food) for industrial composting which is accepted in some areas. Responsible Forestry Raw-materials that are part of a certification scheme to assure responsible social and environmental practice in forestry or plantation. Example: FSC® – Forest Stewardship Council®
