Most important when you are planning for an event is to make sure that you have a holistic thought, a thread that runs through your entire event. Every little detail is important to create the right atmosphere. Lena Björck says that if there is a trend, this is it – to impress your guests with a complete experience.
Lena Björck has worked with events for over 15 year. When asked about what she thinks is the most important factor in creating atmosphere, her answer comes rapid:
“The lighting, definitely. The right lighting in every detail of the event, from a welcoming entrance to tables in perfect ambiance – that is what sets the atmosphere most at an event. And candle light is crucial to accomplish this.”
Colours are also important, finding the right tone for an event. But Lena Björck doesn’t look too much to trends when it comes to colours.
“There are other things that are more important when choosing colours for an event: the brand image of the costumer, the setting where the event takes place, the season and so on. I quite often go in opposite direction from the colour trends, and rather look at the environment, picking up a tone that goes well with the setting and create something unexpected.”
Lena Björck set up her own catering and events business, “Inn or Out”, in London back in 1995. She calls her line of work “event styling”, meaning she takes a holistic grip on the events she is working with. Driven by her motto “under-promise and over-deliver”, she now operates a highly successful business, with an impressive clientele that includes the American Embassy, the Prince’s Trust and Rolls-Royce. Lena Björck has received many awards, including “Business Woman of the Year - East London Business Award”. She is also frequently invited to speak at seminars throughout the UK and Sweden.
