10 TOP TIPS FOR safer DINING AFTER LOCKDOWN

Re-opening your restaurant or hotel? Welcome back. Here are 10 tips to help you protect your guests and staff – and elevate the experience of every meal you serve.

1. Limit handling of napkins and cutlery

Consider using single-use napkin cutlery pockets, which are prefolded to reduce handling of napkins and cutlery.

2. Avoid shared menus that risk contamination

Print your menu on single-use placemats. If you have your menu online, consider printing a QR code so customers can easily access it via their smartphones. Placemats are cost-effective, and ideal when you need to lay tables quickly and hygienically.

3. Table surfaces can appear unsanitary, even after they have been cleaned

Single-use table covers provide a fresher look and guaranteed clean surfaces. They also act as a barrier between the table and cutlery and napkins.

4. Cater to personal hygiene for customers

Offer hand wipes or hand sanitiser before and after meals, and also provide them for take-away orders.

5. Offer your menu to-go

Reach out to your customers who aren’t ready to dine out yet; offer your menu as take-away and use quality food packaging to ensure food remains safe and secure during transport.

6. Eliminate shared condiments

Offer single-serving sachets. They are easy to work with, confidence-inspiring for guests, and they avoid any hygiene issues which might arise from shared salt and pepper mills and other containers.

7. Social distancing will be a concern for customers

Consider rearranging your table plan to give maximum space between tables, and utilise outdoor dining areas whenever possible.

8. Limit physical contact between staff and customers

Provide staff with hygienic gloves, and ask for contactless payments instead of cash.

9. Customers will want to avoid the crowds

Consider extending your serving hours and spreading bookings throughout the day.

10. Show customers hygiene is as important to you as it is to them

Talk about the extra measures you are taking on your menus, website and social media accounts, and explaining to customers when they arrive at your restaurant.
